Circle of Care
Play Therapy Peer Processing & Consultation Group
A space to connect, reflect, and grow together.
As play therapists, we spend our days attuning to the emotional worlds of children, navigating complex family systems, and holding space for experiences that don't always have words.
It's meaningful work. It's also work that asks a lot of us.
Sometimes we leave sessions carrying questions, emotions, or experiences that deserve more space than our schedules allow. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply wishing we had someone who understood.
We believe therapists deserve the same intentional care, connection, and space for reflection that we work so hard to offer our clients.
Our Circle of Care Consultation Group brings child and play therapists together in a supportive, experiential community where we can explore the complexities of our work, learn from one another, and reconnect with ourselves as clinicians and humans.
What Makes This Group Different?
This isn't your typical case consultation group.
While clinical consultation is an important part of our time together, we're equally interested in exploring what happens within us as we engage in the therapeutic process.
Rather than focusing exclusively on what a child is doing or what intervention to try next, we'll make room to consider:
What is this child's experience bringing up for me?
Where am I feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain?
How might my own experiences and nervous system be influencing the therapeutic relationship?
What am I carrying from my work that I haven't had space to process?
How can connection with other therapists help me approach this work with greater clarity and compassion?
Through curiosity, shared reflection, and experiential exploration, we'll deepen our understanding of both our clients and ourselves.
What to Expect
Each 90-minute gathering is intentionally designed to balance clinical exploration, relational connection, and opportunities for regulation.
Connect & Settle In
We'll begin with a gentle check-in, creating space to arrive as we are, transition out of the demands of our day, and connect with one another.
Explore & Process
Through case consultation, we'll explore challenging clinical experiences, relational dynamics, and the emotional impact of our work.
Rather than jumping immediately into advice or problem-solving, we'll practice witnessing, reflecting, and approaching one another's experiences with curiosity.
Integrate & Reconnect
We'll close with opportunities for shared resources, reflection, and grounding, allowing us to carry what we've learned back into our clinical work and everyday lives.
Our gatherings are flexible and responsive to the needs of the group. You don't need to arrive with a case prepared or a particular concern to discuss. Your presence and willingness to engage are enough.
Topics We May Explore
Our group will follow the experiences and needs of its members, with opportunities to explore themes such as:
Countertransference and emotional activation in the playroom
Navigating challenging caregiver relationships and complex family systems
Secondary traumatic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout
Somatic awareness and nervous system regulation
Processing grief, trauma, and emotionally heavy play themes
Clinical uncertainty, imposter syndrome, and professional identity
Cultural responsiveness, advocacy, and ethical considerations
Supporting clients with complex needs while honoring our own capacity
Celebrating clinical growth, meaningful moments, and the joy of play therapy
