Financial Assistance for Therapy
Reducing Barriers to Quality Mental Health Services for Families
We believe therapy is an important element for someone’s healing, and we aim to make it accessible to children, teens, and families in need. Below are several options to explore if you are in need of financial assistance to make therapy possible for your child or family.
Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES)
Parent-Directed Special Education Services, also known as PDSES, offers $1,500 one-time online grants for parents and caregivers of eligible students served by special education.
To be eligible for the PDSES grant, students must currently meet all of the following criteria:
Enrolled in a Texas public school
Enrolled in PreK - 12th grade
Student with a disability served through Special Education
Download the PDSES handout here.
Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA)
The Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) program allows for education savings accounts for families with eligible students to receive funds that can be used for approved education funds. Ensemble Therapy is an approved vendor the TEFA program, which allows us to receive funds directly from parent accounts for what is considered educational therapies not covered by any federal, state, or local government benefits.
To be eligible to apply for the TEFA program, students must currently meet all of the following criteria, and meet any other criteria listed for their age and school enrollment status here:
U.S. citizens or lawfully present in the United States, including children of a parent who is an active duty member of the U.S. armed forces
Eligible to attend a Texas school district or open-enrollment charter school or pre-K program
The parent must be a Texas resident
Participation will be determined via a lottery process if eligible applicants exceed available program funding, and eligible families receive funding in order of priority.
Ensemble Therapy’s Whole Child. Whole City. Initiative
PHILOSOPHY
At Ensemble Therapy, our therapeutic philosophy is based on the foundational belief that all children deserve equal access to mental health resources. As we practice acceptance and inclusion and honor diverse identities, the healing benefits ripple through the family system and the community at large. Healthy children grow up to be healthy adults. Healthy children and adults form healthy, whole communities.
WCWC INITIATIVE
The generous donations we receive from our Whole Child. Whole City. initiative enables us to offer discounted or free counseling sessions to families in Austin who otherwise would not have the financial resources to do so. As of June 2023, we have funded 89 counseling sessions for 11 families, allowing 7 of our clinical staff to be compensated their full rate for sliding scale sessions.

Ensemble Therapy’s Sliding Fee Discount Program
PURPOSE
All clients seeking mental health care services at Ensemble Therapy are assured that they will be served regardless of ability to pay. No one is refused service because of lack of financial means to pay. This program is designed to provide free or discounted care to those who have no means, or limited means, to pay for their mental health services.
Ensemble Therapy offers a Sliding Fee Discount Program to all who are unable to pay for their services. Ensemble Therapy will base program eligibility on a person’s ability to pay and will not discriminate on the basis of an individual’s race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. Eligibility is determined by the client’s reported budget for mental health care services. The Federal Poverty Guidelines are used in creating and annually updating the sliding fee schedule to determine eligibility.
Insurance reimbursement
Ensemble Therapy does not directly bill insurance, but we can provide a Super Bill, which is a receipt of service you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursements.
