Supervision

“The role of a great leader is not to give greatness to human beings, but to help them extract the greatness they already have inside them.”
— J. Buchan

 Our Approach to Clinical Supervision

We employ a humanistic and developmental framework in our clinical supervision, guiding supervisees towards increased self-awareness, self-confidence, and professional growth. With a focus on congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathy, our supervisory relationship is essential to clinical growth. We strive to create a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where supervisees can grow and change in a collaborative process that honors them as a person. We meet supervisees where they are currently in their professional development and tailor our supervision using the roles of teacher, counselor, cheerleader, and consultant.

During our supervision session, we will help you to focus on the following areas in counseling: process, conceptualization, personalization, and administration.

  • The process skills consist of intervention skills and counseling techniques, what you are actually doing in your sessions with clients.

  • Conceptualization focuses on how you think about, plan for, and analyze your cases.

  • Personalization refers to those aspects of your experience that relate to you as a person while keeping therapy uncontaminated by transference and countertransference.

  • The administration function covers all other aspects of counseling such as case notes, ethics, licensure, and business practices.

In addition, we will use case note review, role plays, simulations, and other modalities for our sessions. Depending on the type of licensure you are seeking, supervision will consist of weekly/bi-monthly individual or group supervision.
