Sophia is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Jaclyn Sepp, MA, LPC-S, RPT-S™, NCC, RYT® 200. She is currently pursuing her Registered Play Therapist™ credential. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University (CACREP Accredited Program). Sophia is committed to providing trauma-informed, anti-racist, and LGBTQIA+ affirming mental health care. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, groups, and families in diverse settings, including schools, university clinics, child advocacy centers, hospices/grief and loss centers. Sophia strives to create an inclusive, accessible, and culturally affirming environment to support clients in processing complex life experiences and trauma.
She meets her clients exactly where they are, opening a compassionate, judgment-free space where they can truly feel seen and heard. As a Narrative practitioner, she wholeheartedly believes that you are the ultimate expert of your own story. She is here to walk alongside you and is passionate about helping you discover deeper self-understanding and meaningful change, on your own terms and at your own pace.
When working with children, Sophia utilizes child-centered play therapy and expressive modalities, allowing children to lead the way and empowering them to build confidence and overcome challenges. She collaborates with families to provide ongoing support beyond therapy sessions. For tweens, teens and adults, she employs trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches tailored specifically to each individual, fostering genuine healing and meaningful growth.
Her background includes working at Midlothian High School, where she worked as a color guard technician for their marching band. During her collegiate studies at Texas State University, she worked in the Disability Services office and Texas State University’s Career Service Center, providing mental health care and fostering strong, trust-based relationships grounded in compassion and cultural responsiveness.
She practices from a Narrative Therapy lens and utilizes evidence-based interventions from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, along with expressive modalities including play, art, and sandtray therapy.
